Lifetime employment appears to be a monolith of the past. Most people will work for at least three to five different employers during their working life. Changes in employment may be the result of many factors. Regardless of the reason, you can use a change to your advantage. Find what you really want to do in life. It is not too late! Make a change that will make a difference. Consider Career Exploration.
Career Exploration is a process of assessments, interviews, and analysis. This process commonly consists of several meetings with Dr. Bonner as well as several testing sessions. Scheduling testing sessions across 2 - 3 weeks allows for shorter sessions. If session times are lengthened, the client becomes more tired, and the results are not as beneficial. Sessions that last between 1 hour and 30 minutes - 2 hours allow for the best information. Depending on the areas of interest, three or four testing sessions are usually scheduled.
Throughout this process, Dr. Bonner will meet with the client to discuss, to confirm, and to explore findings. She will emphasize options. She will consider income preferences, educational requirements, job availability, and geographic location. She will discuss information that is realistic and applicable to the individual. The final appointment with Dr. Bonner will include the presentation of a formal report as well as a thorough discussion of the information.
Rather than expending energy, time, and money toward a future that may not be the best possible option for you, make an appointment to begin the Career Exploration process. Dr. Bonner will identify your aptitudes, your abilities, and your interests. She will help you find, develop, and pursue the work you love. You will discover your life's work and how to make it happen.
Ability & Aptitude Applications
Every person is born with natural abilities and aptitudes. Sometimes we discover these as we progress through school and life. Sometimes we are not really certain about these abilities and aptitudes, or we are not certain about how to use them to our best advantage.
Through Ability & Aptitude Applications, your inborn capabilities and skills will be identified.
- Do you see the world in the small details or as a big picture?
- Can you think abstractly (theoretically, intangible concepts) or do you think concretely (pragmatically, direct facts)?
- Are you more oriented toward visual objects or auditory objects?
These are only a few of the questions that will be answered through comprehensive Ability & Aptitude Applications. These answers will be applied to your specific interests including both educational plans and employment goals. What does it take to be a leader? Should a leader be strict and forceful or permissive and forgiving? Should a leader be oriented to people or to production? Should a leader be provocative or charismatic?
The best style of leadership depends on multiple factors. Truly effective leaders are an interaction of the situation, the followers, and the leader's characteristics.
The assessment of Leadership Potential will determine if you inherently possess the necessary characteristics to be an effective leader. You may need to learn how to apply your natural abilities to their best advantage. Or, you may need to learn new skills for specific situations. Once your potential is assessed, a program can be designed to enhance your current abilities and to help you to develop new skills.
This Personality Evaluation provides the cornerstone of information to determine the work that will make you the happiest. Most people have the ability to accomplish many things in life. But, out of the many things you can do, how do you decide what you should do? What will make your life interesting and exciting? What will make a difference for you? What will give you the most joy and the greatest happiness?
- Do you view the glass as half empty or half full?
- Are you an early bird or an midnight owl?
- Which way do you approach a task - slow and steady or fast and furious?
This Personality Evaluation provides information on your personality characteristics. With this information, Dr. Bonner can identify the options that can make a difference in your life. Additional information on Personality Testing can be viewed at Testing/Assessment Solutions.
